Halliburton Employees Donated More Money to Democrats!

"The Huffington Post", a website I find interesting but don't always agree with, has a pretty neat page called "FundRace 2008", which has a searchable database that purports to show you every campaign contribution over $200 from anybody and everybody, anywhere during the last 4 years! Their calculations are all based on public records filed with the Federal Election Commision (FEC), and only include donations of $200 or more from individuals, given to a single Republican or Democratic presidential campaign or national committee for the 2004 and 2008 election cycles. FundRace is updated according to the reporting schedule set by the FEC. Public contribution data is geocoded using public U.S. Census Bureau data.

So, basically, if you're so inclined, you can find out how much money your next-door-neighbor donated to which candidates, if it was $200 or more. You can check out the political makeup of your street, your city, your state, and the listing includes a mailing address and profession on all donors.

So you can find out to whom, for example, musician Paul Simon donated money and how much. Or Tom Hanks. Or John Cleese. You can search either by name, address, city, state, or profession, all there for the snooping.

I couldn't find any donations from any political pundits, presumably because they're supposed to stay neutral (on the record). Example: When searching under "Employer" MSNBC", here are the results- $1,907 was given by people who identified their employer as "MSNBC". $282 from 1 person to Republicans $1,625 from 2 people to Democrats. The three people listed from MSNBC are not on-air personalities.
